Paignton Zoo

Today we took the boys to Paignton Zoo for a day out. We had a lovely time and kept moving as it was so cold. Theo and Oli were so well dressed up they were fine and didn't complain of the cold once. We saw all the animals they wanted to see and more....Oli was quite taken with the orang utan's and the other monkeys. The Macaque's came to say hello at the window and Oli was leaving kisses for them. Theo liked the crocodiles. Daddy I think liked the elephants and I liked the monkeys too.

It was nice going in the winter, not too many people trawling around so the restaurant queues were quiet and i'm sure the animals were more active and more wandering around than in the summer. We did the wobbly bridge several times which was fun....

Whenever I go to the zoo I wonder what the animals really think about it all, I know some of them are born in zoos and probably won't know any different and I know that animals live to eat and reproduce...but even so some of the animals just look like they shouldn't be there. Hmm it is a hard one that really as I do love to see the animals but should we really be putting animals in pens/cages/zoos. I expect helping them and saving animals because their environment is being destroyed would be one argument for.

I will keep on pondering that one but leave you with a photo of me wrestling with the crocodile in the foyer....No animal was injured in the process of this photo shoot!!!

Back to the blog....

Ok so a New Year is around the corner and it's about time i got back to blogging....so hopefully i'll be putting some more things up on here than I have been of late.

It's been a hard year to say the least, with two miscarriages, several planned outings having to be cancelled or postponed due to illnesses or Mark working or other such things happening. BUT there have been some good times too.

Socatots is going really well, Theo and Oli are growing up with only the odd moment when I could swap them for new versions!! Theo starts school in January so it's all change there as Oli will be doing the pre-school bit on his own and we will miss having Theo at home. We had a lovely canal boat holiday in the Summer and had Nanny, Nanna, Grandad and Sam along to help and join in the fun! SO as 2008 disappears into a distant memory we hope that 2009 will be a much happier and more positive year...for everyone in the family and for all our friends...

Here Daddy, Mummy, Oli and Theo pull faces for a family portrait on the canal boat!!
